A modern fable in verse. Wise Monkey Wrought scroll N.018, "The Password." The brain keeps every advert jingle from 1994 in pristine condition. The password was set on Tuesday. The vault of memory is vast, with wings for everything once heard: a jingle from the distant past, kept whole and perfect, word for word. It holds, intact, the dialling tone, the words to adverts off the air, the number of a childhood phone, all dusted daily, kept with care. A prompt requested, at the door, the password set three days ago. The vault searched every wing and floor. It sent back: jingles? Yes. This? No. The account was locked at half past nine. A reset link restored the day. The new password, of fresh design, was stored where Tuesday's went away. The brain archives every jingle since 1994. Passwords are kept in a separate facility, unstaffed.
