A modern fable in verse. Wise Monkey Wrought scroll N.016, "The Snooze Button." The alarm was set at ten the night before. The evening had agreed to six fifteen. The terms were drawn up by someone well rested. The clock went off at six fifteen, the terms as evening had foreseen. A button sat beside the sound, the only clerk the court had found. Adjournment came at one soft press, nine minutes, granted, no appeal. The evening's terms were now worth less. The morning had not seen the deal. Again the court was called to sit, again the button ruled on it. Each time the same nine minutes came, each time the clerk approved the claim. At nine to seven, no more pleas. The clerk had granted all of these. The sleep was thin, the hearings long. The ruling filed at ten stood strong.
